2026 Mazda CX-70: A Two-Row Midsize SUV With Room to Roam

Mazda calls the CX-70 a midsize SUV with sporty style and features, made for people with an active lifestyle who need extra cargo space. For 2026 it comes with an Inline 6 Turbo or as a plug-in hybrid (PHEV). Here’s what to know if the CX-70 is on your list.

Two Rows and a Lot of Cargo Room

The CX-70 seats five in two rows. With two rows, there’s plenty of room in the back: Mazda lists 39.6 cubic feet behind the second row, 75.3 cubic feet with the rear seats folded flat, and an underfloor storage compartment. A Hands-Free Rear Liftgate and remote-folding second-row seats are available on select models.

Inline 6 Turbo With M Hybrid Boost

Both gas versions use a 3.3-liter turbocharged Inline 6 with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system:

  • 3.3 Turbo: 280 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque
  • 3.3 Turbo S: 340 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque with premium fuel

Every CX-70 has an 8-speed automatic and standard i-Activ AWD. Kinematic Posture Control is standard too. It applies light braking to the inside rear wheel in corners to help reduce body roll. On select models, the CX-70 can tow up to 5,000 lbs when properly equipped with a Genuine Mazda Tow Hitch, which also unlocks Towing Mode and Trailer Hitch View.

CX-70 PHEV: Electric for Everyday Errands

The CX-70 PHEV pairs a 2.5-liter engine with a 68 kW electric motor for up to 323 hp of total system power.

  • Up to 32 miles of all-electric range, and an estimated 520 miles of combined range
  • EPA-estimated 61 MPGe combined
  • Charges in about 11 hours on the included Level 1 cable, or about 2.5 hours with a Level 2 home charger
  • Tows up to 3,500 lbs when properly equipped
  • Two trims: PHEV SC and PHEV SC Plus

Tech and Safety

Mazda lists a 12.3-inch full-color center display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Alexa Built-in for the CX-70, plus a standard Wireless Charging Pad and USB-C outlets. Standard safety features include Smart Brake Support, Lane-keep Assist, Blind Spot Monitoring, Mazda Radar Cruise Control and Vehicle Exit Warning. A 360° View Monitor and Cruising & Traffic Support are available.
